Dr. Jim Ovia (born 1951) is the founder and chairman of Zenith Bank, one of Africa's largest financial institutions. In 1990, Ovia founded Zenith Bank with just $4 million capital; today it has assets exceeding $24 billion and operations across Africa, Europe, and Asia. Under his leadership, Zenith became the first Nigerian bank listed on the London Stock Exchange. Ovia holds an MBA from Harvard and has authored books on entrepreneurship. He founded the James Hope Foundation supporting education and received the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON). Forbes ranks Ovia among Africa's wealthiest individuals. His banking innovation and business philosophy have transformed Nigeria's financial sector.
