Onyeka Onwenu

Onyeka Onwenu (born 1952) is a legendary Nigerian singer, songwriter, actress, and journalist known as the "Elegant Stallion." Her music career began in the 1980s with hits like "One Love," "Iyogogo," and "Ekwe." Onwenu's songs address social issues, women's rights, and African identity. She has released over 10 albums blending highlife, reggae, pop, and gospel. Beyond music, Onwenu starred in Nollywood films and served as Director-General of the National Centre for Women Development. She was appointed Chairperson of Imo State Council for Arts and Culture. Onwenu's advocacy for women, her elegant style, and her socially conscious art have made her an icon of Nigerian culture.
